Eutaw Construction Company, Inc. was recently awarded a contract of $24.68 million dollars for the Airfield Modernization Program at the McGhee Tyson Airport.  This will be the first phase of the Airfield Modernization Program, which has an overall estimate of $100 million dollars throughout the next 4 years.  To meet current regulations set forth by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), Eutaw will perform various scopes of work including, but not limited to: demolition of approximately 3,000 linear feet of center runway 5L-23R, connecting taxiways and all correlating drainage, electrical and navigational aid systems; more than 500,000 cubic yards of unclassified excavation and embankment; more than 6,400 linear feet of RCP drainage piping and more than 22,000 linear feet of 6-inch underdrain piping; 82,000 square yards of 16-inch PCC paving; more than 11,500 tons of asphalt base and surface course paving; extensive electrical and navigational aid (NAVAID) work; abatement and demolition of two buildings (totaling more 31,000 square feet); and ancillary items.
